The U-Turn Christmas Braai is no more! Long live the U-Turn Christmas Potjie! Thats right, after a long history (about 10 years) of hosting a Christmas Braai for the street people we work with, U-Turn has done a U-Turn and hosted a potjie! On Saturday the 6th of December about 100 homeless men and women gathered at St. Stephens Church to celebrate the birth of Jesus and another year together. The day began with carol singing, continued with a talk on the arrival of Jesus the Christ, and finished with a grand meal of potjie, salad and ice-cream.
As our special guests left they received a Christmas parcel, a present reminding them of God's gift of his Son to this world. We are very thankful as always for the many volunteers who made the day happen. Some of them were long-time friends and for some this was a first taste if U-Turn's work. A bit of training for them on their roles as Christians trying to help gave us all confidence. And hopefully we'll see many of you again in the future. Thanks to all who sponsored us with food, gifts ect.
